How We Get Your Elevators and Escalators Repaired Quickly and Reliably
Our repair process at Empire for an elevator or escalator involves a series of diagnostic, technical, and safety steps performed by our technicians.
Request for assessment
The process begins when a building owner or facility manager contacts an elevator and escalator service company to report an issue or schedule a repair.
Safety lockout
Prior to begin repair works, our technician perform a “lockout and tag-out” procedure, which involves shutting off and securing the main power to the equipment. Warning signs and barriers are strategically placed to prevent others from using the machinery.
Diagnosis and troubleshooting
Based on our repair checklist, our technicians observe and tests the equipment to identify the problem(s).
i) Listening for unusual sounds or vibrations: Technicians listen for grinding, squeaking, or other noises that could indicate worn or damaged components.
ii) Checking the control panel: They read error codes, messages, and indicator displays for clues about electrical or system failures.
iii) Inspecting critical components: Technicians use checklists to examine the motor, brakes, drive systems, electrical wiring, and safety switches.
Repair or component replacement
Once the problem is identified, the technician repairs or replaces the faulty components using specialized tools and equipment.
i) In some cases, parts can be repaired on-site, such as lubricating bearings or adjusting door mechanisms.
ii) A replacement is necessary, for damaged or completely failed parts,
Safety and performance testing
Our technicians conduct comprehensive testing to ensure the equipment meets all safety and performance standards – once the repairs are complete.
i) May involve checking emergency stop buttons, safety brakes, and other security features.
ii) Running the unit(s) to check for smooth operation.
Logging and documentation
Our technicians then create a detailed log of the repair, including the problem found, the work performed, and any parts that were replaced. This record is important for future service and for compliance with safety regulations.
Return to service:
Finally; after confirming that the elevator or escalator is operating safely and correctly, the technician returns power to the unit and removes all safety barriers, allowing it to be used again.
